Coffee songs

It has come to my attention that some of the best music is enhanced by the consumption of a certain caffeinated speciality. As with people, coffee brings out something special in many songs, and to celebrate this I am beginning a new tradition of coffee-flavoured playlists, perhaps quarterly, or just whenever I fancy it.

These recommendations are tried and tested, and each song goes incredibly well with coffee. At the time of writing, I have been enjoying a Dunkin` Donuts hazelnut blend and a Paddy & Stuart`s All Day roast. Serve early in the morning while the sun is still climbing the great ladder in the sky, during a quiet moment at work or late at night in a low-lit room.

Death Cab For Cutie - Steadier Footing (The Photo Album, 2001)

The Tallest Man on Earth - Tangle In This Trampled Wheat (Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird, 2010)

Kings of Convenience - Sorry Or Please (Riot On An Empty Street, 2004)

Missy Higgins - Don't Ever (The Sound Of White, 2004)

Aqualung - Baby Goodbye (Baby Goodbye, 2003)

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson - Who's Laughing? (Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, 2009)

Beach House - Gila (Devotion, 2008)

The songs unfold and unwind slowly like a good cup of the black stuff, and seem to be written to make us feel even more unimaginably lonely (ten points if you got the reference). So go ahead, combine these wondrous gifts and remind yourself just how beautiful life can be.
